Polycarbonate Twinwall / Multiwall sheet and Accessories

SUNLITE POLYCARBONATE ROOFING SHEET

Polycarbonate sheets are ideally suited to many roofing projects, such as conservatories, car ports and covered walkways, combining the strength of polycarbonate with air pocket insulation, within a lightweight sheet. The sheets have many excellent properties including:

  • Non-flammability - Sunlite sheets are self-extinguishing and do not emit toxic gases when subject to flame
  • Impact resistance - Polycarbonate is significantly tougher than glass, styrene, acrylic or PVC, and so resistant to falling roof tiles or malicious damage, for example
  • Heat and noise insulation - heat gain or loss is minimised by the air cells within the sheet, giving much better results than single walled, corrugated or solid flat sheet
  • Durability - Sunlite sheets come with a 10 year limited warranty
  • High light transmission - up to 82%, depending on thickness and tints
  • Protected surfaces - sheets are supplied with protective film on both sides (printed film indicating the side with UV coating, to be installed outwards). The film must be removed prior to use
  • Workability - Sunlite sheets can be cut with a handsaw, jigsaw or bandsaw. If using a circular saw we recommend gloves and protective eyewear are worn. A fine tooth high speed steel saw blade gives best results

Please also note that Polycarbonate sheets need careful handling as edges can be sharp, and that they are subject to thermal movement, so allowance for this should be made when positioning any fixing through the sheet. For comprehensive advice and information on these sheets, please refer to the PDF "Multiwall Technical Guide" on this page. This covers light transmission, physical properties, curving radius, slope, wind and snow loadings, installation, sheet spans, connecting and fastening, thermal expansion, handling and storage, cleaning, safety, cutting, drilling, bonding and sealing. We recommend that you read this before purchase.

Multiwall Technical Guide

Multiwall Technical Guide

Sunlite sheets can be supplied in 3 standard finishes, achieved by tinting during production:

  • Clear for projects where light is most important, such as car ports
  • Opal for matching to white PVC conservatories and similar
  • Bronze for matching with hardwood or brown PVC conservatories

Tubeway can supply the two common designs of polycarbonate roofing, Twinwall and Multiwall, along with accessories required for installation, details of which are listed below - to discuss your requirements and pricing further please contact us with your Twinwall / Multiwall Polycarbonate queries. Note that Tubeway are not able to supply small orders of these products as they are not cut and prepared on site. Our prices and delivery options tend to be good value for larger quantities rather than small projects

Sunlite 10mm is a more popular size, combining clarity, lightweight design and more rigidity than the thinner Twinwall sheets. It can be supplied in sheets of Clear, Bronze and Opal as large as 7000 x 2100mm, although smaller metric sheets are much easier to handle and deliver.

16mm Multiwall Polycarbonate

Sunlite 16mm Multiwall is a popular product, strong and rigid, with excellent insulation properties from its multiple air pockets, keeping warmth in during winter and excessive heat out in summer. It is available in sheets of Clear, Bronze and Opal of up to 7000 x 2100mm, although smaller sheet sizes are easier to handle and deliver.

Prices available on request.

For 16mm Multiwall Accessories, please see the section below.

25mm Multiwall Polycarbonate

Sunlite 25mm provides scaled-up benefits of the Multiwall design, with better thermal insulation but without sacrificing much clarity. It is available in the same Clear, Bronze and Opal tints, and the same sheet sizes as the 16mm Multiwall sheet. In addition to these standard shades, we can now offer 25mm "Bronze on Opal", which is one layer of either shade sandwiched together. This is usually installed with Opal on the inside and Bronze on the outside. Also available is Opal "Heatshield" 25mm Multiwall, offering solar control as infrared sunlight is blocked by additives within the sheet, but high light levels are still let through. Protection is permanent and Opal Heatshield is UV protected on both faces. Tubeway will be pleased to receive your 25mm Multiwall Polycarbonate enquiries.

Prices available on request.

35mm Multiwall Polycarbonate.
